Charlotte THOMAS (CERI SciencesPo, NORIA research network)

Ethnic nationalism in India

(wykład w języku angielskim)

The election of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of India in 2014 put a hardliner Hindu nationalist at the head of the Indian Union. This lecture will present the content of this ethnic nationalism that should not be conflated with Indian nationalism, its secularist and inclusive version. Three dimensions of the Hindu nationalism will be explored: the historical context of its emergence, its ideology and its social and political impact on Indian society.

She is the head of the South Asia Program of Noria, a researchers’ network in which she also coordinates the Observatory of South Asia (www.noria-research.com/).
